That is an excellent piece! I love the phrase "end-stage metastatic capitalism" - it is such a good description of what is going on. May I link to it on my Facebook?

How is it that I've never read Omelas before?

I remember hitchhiking to work in a blizzard when I had bronchitis, but had no healthcare and no money for a doctor.

I remember becoming so sickened from toxic fumes after years of exposure at my workplace that I had to quit, and after filing a complaint with OSHA, they called my former employer before investigating him.

And I remember finding the science to back up my claims over 2 decades later, when it was too late and I'd passed the irreparable damage on to my son.

People change exactly as much as they're comfortable with changing. Like the proverbial frog in the pot, most people are remarkably comfortable being scalded, or they'll jump once before going right back into the pot. Any suggestions on how to get them out of the echo chamber stockpots?
